VSD is a hole in the septum between right and left ventricle. VSDs are mostly congenital that present since birth.
Small VSDs tends to close by itself as the child grows. But large VSDs with significant size may produce hemodynamic problems and symptoms mainly related to congestive heart failure. Breathlessness, failure to thrive, recurrent chest infection , endocarditis and fever etc.
Echocardiography is sufficient for diagnosis but in some cases cardiac catheterization may need to be done.
DEVICE CLOSURE OR SURGICAL CLOSURE. Treatment choice depends on the age of the patient , size and anatomy of the VSD. Your heart team give you the best options for the disease.
