Vitamin K is essential for proper blood clotting system in our body. Coumarin based drugs and other inhibitors of Vitamin K are useful in prevention of blood clot in certain conditions like thrombo-embolic disorders and patients with mechanical valves. So it is essential to maintain the vitamin K constant in your diet. Not to consume much or less vitamin K rich foods. Sudden change in eating habits should be avoided as it will affect your blood condition and dose of your blood thinner.
1. Green Leafy Vegetables: Broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, lettuce, spinach, parsley(dhaniya), okra(bhindi).
2. Fruits: Papaya, strawberries.
3. Oils: Rapeseed (canola), soyabean.
4. Meats: Liver.
5. Dairy products: Egg yolk.

Blood thinning effect of the anti vitamin k drugs is measured with INR. Required Range depends on the type of disease and condition of the patient.
1. For thrombo-embolic disorders = 1.5 to 2.5
2. AVR with mechanical valve = 2 to 2.5
3. MVR with mechanical valve = 2.5 to 3
4. DVR with mechanical valve = 3 to 3.5
